Manual lymph drainage is the art of manually stimulating the neighboring intact and healthy lymphatic system(s) to prepare them to accept the congested lymph fluid from the nonintact quadrant using a series of specific steps. In doing so, you are effectively decongesting the affected limb/quadrant. In simpler terms, you are moving the fluid away from the affected area of your body to the nonaffected sides that are more than capable of handling the extra lymph fluid.
