To ensure that we are a good match, I offer a consultation free of charge, to meet with you and see if I am the right doula for your birth.
Should you decide to have me as your doula, this is what you can expect:
1-2 prenatal visits, in which we will discuss how you see your birth unfolding (including the creation of a birth plan), natural methods of pain relief (should you be hoping for a natural birth), comfort measures during labour, and much more.
24/7 on-call availability for your birth, from 37 weeks onward. I will come and meet you once you feel that you need me. I will remain with you continuously until the birth, and up to two hours postpartum.
2 postpartum visits, one the day after the birth and one within the first week. We will process the birth and your feelings surrounding the birth, should you so choose, engage in breastfeeding support if needed, and talk about the best ways family and friends can support a family with a new baby.
You will also have access to my extensive lending library, and support via phone, text or email throughout the duration of our time together.
My fee for services is $1500. Payment arrangements are available.
So your baby is here - now what? You are elated but also likely overwhelmed by just how all-encompassing your new role is. In the past, we had villages and communities to help care for new families in the postpartum period. Although this has changed, parents still need that support - and that's where a postpartum doula comes in.
Just as it is the birthing person’s job to care for the newborn, it is the role of the doula to care for the birthing person. This can mean many different things, including but not limited to:
emotional support;
feeding (breast/chestfeeding/bottle-feeding) help;
assisting with newborn care/soothing;
assistance and instruction in babywearing;
light housekeeping;
meal preparation;
baby care while you care for yourself;
phone, text and email support
It is my goal to ensure that new parents feel well-rested (as much as possible!), well-nourished, and feel physically and emotionally well so that they may begin their journey into parenthood smoothly.
Fee: $30/hour
