It is now Winter, 1804. Two months earlier, the Expedition reached the villages of the Mandan & Hidatsa tribes. Lewis & Clark decided to build a fort across the river from the villages to wait out the winter. Fort Mandan was completed just recently, and here the Expedition waited until the ice melted on the river to continue the journey. Read the journal entry for this stop. Remember to record the information below in your Adventure Journal before moving on.
