ORIENTATION SESSION

On my first day at the school, I was given an introduction to the school environment as well as important information about school programs, policies and procedures. I was taken on a tour of the premises and classrooms available here. I was also invited to get acquainted with my resourse teacher during my time here. This orientation helped me to get to know the environment where I will be doing my teaching practice.

PHYSICS RESOURCE TEACHER

His name is Froilan Alex C. Calixtro. He is a physics teacher and he is my resource teacher. He helped me a lot about everything of my teaching practice here. I learned a lot from him, because his experience of being a teacher for many years, I think he is a very inspiring teacher figure. He taught me painstakingly and always gave advice and motivation that was very influential for the continuity of this program. Thank you for teaching me a lot of things here, I will miss our talks about the random things🤗

CLASS OBSERVATION SESSION

After making several observations, there are several points that I can conclude:

For the order of activities in the classroom:

• The class is opened with a greeting from the teacher.

• The teacher shares the results of the assessment of the assignment in the previous meeting and discusses the answers.

• The teacher explained the material to be presented that day.

• The teacher explains the material with explanation and demonstration.

• Students are required to be active in learning by participating in answering practice questions on the blackboard.

• The teacher provides opportunities for students to ask questions about things that have not been understood.

• The teacher gives assignments to students for independent work. 

• The teacher closed the class with greeting.

The important things I learned from the class observation are:

• The teacher tries to liven up the classroom atmosphere.

• The importance of memorizing students' names as a form of respect for students

• Always give feedback to students.

• The importance of teaching time management.

• Small appreciation means a lot to them.

• Get students not to be afraid to speak up in class.

• The importance of the teacher's voice and writing when teaching.

DISCUSSION ABOUT TOPIC FOR DEMO TEACHING

After doing a few class observations, I had to prepare my demo teaching. Sir Alex and I discussed the topic that I would teach during my demo teaching. He gave me the topic "Acceleration" and the class I taught was grade 12 STEM. He gave me the points about the material that I have to deliver so that I have an idea.

PREPARING LESSON AND MATERIALS

I was given a week to prepare the lesson plans, materials and student worksheets for my demo teaching. During that week I was also welcome to ask questions about any difficulties I encountered. Finally, everything was approved by Sir Alex after several consultations and discussions.

MEASUREMENT AND EVALUATION

To measure students' understanding of the material presented, Sir Alex gave me an assessment day. I give students a worksheet, which contains one critical thinking question and five problem solving questions. They work on the worksheet in groups with their peers. It is also expected that they can collaborate with peers. As for the individual assessment, I gave them the task of doing three counting problems. I gave the assignment at the end of my teaching on the first day after delivering the material and collected it on the next day.
