As the Art Teacher at Highland Park Elementary,  I taught a diverse population of over 850 students weekly in a variety of mediums. I created a weekly after school Art Club for students, designed sets and helped run our after school Drama Club, and put on a variety of Art Shows at for families at the school. I believe my experience in Primary level art education is one of my biggest strengths as an educator, and instills confidence in students at a key age when they are learning to create marks and use a variety of tools and mediums for the first time. By establishing an early love for art, students create a lasting bond with art-making, understanding, and appreciation that will encourage visual expression and development of artistic confidence throughout a lifetime. 

More recently, as a travelling teacher at the Springfield Literacy Center, I taught a rich visual arts curriculum to first grade students. Teaching from a cart I was able to deliver lessons of variety of media, referring to cultural and historical art. Students were engaged in lessons with drawing, painting, printmaking, and mixed media.
