The project aims at collecting, selecting, and disseminating information on the life and work of the late nineteenth to mid-twentieth century artist Josef Rotter. Undertaken in the memory of an early admirer of Rotter's work, the common grandfather of two of the participants, the project is unaffiliated, noncommercial, and has benefited from the help of many, including a Viennese art historian, an Iranian Azeri bibliophile, a Grisionese political scientist, a Bavarian musicologist, an intellectual property lawyer, two graphic designers, and finally, an amateur genealogist whose discovery of Rotter's death record confirmed previous guesses about the artist's birth, origins, and education. Our email address is rotterproject@gmail.com.
