My question was; How can I portray cryptids in their mythological state with white marks to accentuate movement, texture, and variety? Through my pieces I can see how my use of the colors changed depending on how I wanted to portray the creature. For the Kraken, I used reds because It was depicted as a huge red octopus-like creature that was scary/angry. The bloop(4) was made with primarily blue to further enhance that it was in the ocean. I experimented with different layouts, for example the elf and the night walkers. I boxed off the night walkers with a front profile and used a side profile for the elf. I used the white gel pen for texture and movement to make them less flat and so there was more depth to the piece. I revised how realistic or how imaginative the pieces should be based on how widely known they were or how much information I could find on them. I could find a lot of information on the Elf, Kraken, Wendigo, Dragon, and Siren, hence why there are so many details in them and why they seem to be more realistic looking than the others. I practiced many different application for the markers, like putting it over the pencil or putting dark over lights and vice versa.
