Philosophy Quest

Philosophy can be inaccessible and often lacks diversity. These are dire problems that we should all care about.

One way to approach this is to change how we think of the environments we do philosophy in. Classrooms and Zoom sessions are not battlegrounds. They are places that afford opportunities for co-inquiry, questioning, and wonder.

Taking inspiration from pioneers like Dr. Rima Basu and Dr. Rebecca Scott, I have designed a course using the Quest Roleplaying Game. It's been an exciting and rewarding experience.

The Quest for World Philosophy "Podcast"

For the Spring 2021 semester of World Philosophy, I recorded "podcast" episodes with philosophers and academics around the world. Each week began with a new reading, a brief overview of the major themes, and a Socratic discussion focused on our Toolkit Questions. This draws upon the work of Dr. Thomas Jackson's work in Philosophy for Children (P4c) Hawai'i. Each of my students then responded to the text with their own Toolkit Questions and summited a brief reflection.
