ME267 : Finite Element Analysis Final Project (April 2021 - June 2021)
Utilized Solidworks to create a reverse engineered model of a physical tubular bumper sourced from a racecar
Imported the model into Abaqus and ran finite element analysis simulations to determine the factor of safety for the application of lifting the car up with a hydraulic jack
Improved the accuracy of stress results through the creation of half-models to optimize the allocation of nodes
Identified and modeled the mounting plate of the tubular bumper to generate a detailed analysis of largest stress concentration location
Explored improvement of the tubular bumper design through geometrical adjustments of its structure to decrease the maximum stress experienced at stress concentration locations
