Zha is a game similar to "Rock, Paper, Scissors" except that it has the added on rules of having an attacker and defender. The hand gestures are different as well as there is a "gun", "man" and "rock".
How to play Zha?
After deciding who starts off as the attacker by either flipping a coin or through a quick game of rock paper scissors, the players start off with the "man" gesture.
The attacker starts the round by saying "Zha!" in which the players can choose to change their hand gestures or remain the same. The gestures for each hand are allowed to be different.
The players then check if any of the attacker's hands are able to kill any of the defender's hands. If not, the roles swap and the game continues.
The way the roles interaction with each others is as so:
Man kills the Rock
Rock kills the Gun
Gun kills the Man
Each hand is only allowed to kill one of the opponent's hands at a time and the defender's hands are unable to kill the attacker's hands.
The game continues until there is one player with no more hands. The other one is then declared the winner.
This game idea has been in my head since 2021 as I originally pitched it in my EAE portfolio when trying to apply for Game Design and Development for TP. I came up with this idea as when I started secondary school, I was surprised to find out that a lot of my classmates have never heard of this game.
With this game being a big portion of my childhood in primary school as it was a simple to learn yet engaging and fast paced game, I wanted more of my friends to learn how to play it.
The reason for wanting to turn it into a computer game is that it would be easier to share how to play the game to others instead of it just spreading via word of mouth. With this, I hope that future generations will also be able to learn this game and continue to play it.
