Selected posters are posted on a rolling basis to view throughout the Joining Hands Symposium. Posters are provided in accessible formats and/or include an accessible text-based alternative.
Do you have information for people with disabilities to enter and flourish in careers related to international exchange and/or international development? Those who register for Joining Hands 2021 are invited to submit poster presentations and job listings for a virtual career fair. Selected submissions will be publicly viewable via the Joining Hands website.
Posters may address a variety of topics related to people with disabilities working in global careers. Examples:
"How to Leverage Your Study Abroad Experiences in Your Next Interview"
"Resources for Finding International Exchange Careers"
"I Got the Job!” Success Stories from International Education Professionals with Disabilities
"Should I Disclose My Disability When I Apply for Global Jobs? Pros and Cons"
"Getting Your Foot in the Door: Volunteer and Internship Opportunities in Citizen Diplomacy"
"Building Networks of Professionals with Disabilities"
"Adding a Disability Lens to Non-Disability-Focused Work"
Job listings should be related to international exchange, international education, international development and similar fields. Here are some items to consider including your job listing poster or slide deck:
General overview of what your organization does
Jobs and internships you offer in the U.S.
Any opportunities for those outside the U.S. (including trainers, consultants, board members, etc.)
Link to your job page
Whether internships are paid/unpaid and internship length
Opportunities for remote work (internships or staff positions)
How excited your organization is to diversify staff and interns to include people with disabilities
Submit your poster and text-only version to JoiningHands@miusa.org.
