How to Submit a Poster proposal

Do you have experiences, research, or expertise that would benefit the Joining Hands community? Those who register for Joining Hands 2020 are invited to submit proposals for a virtual poster fair. Selected posters will be publicly viewable via the Joining Hands website.

Posters may address a variety of topics related to people with disabilities and international exchange. Examples:

  • "My Summer Volunteering in Costa Rica with a Disability"

  • "Mobile Phone Apps for Deaf Travelers"

  • "Making the Homestay Experience Accessible to Disabled Exchange Participants"

  • "Disability Representation in Study Abroad Promotional Materials: Dos and Don'ts"

  • "Disabled and LGBTQ+: Finding Community Abroad"

  • "Scholarships for Going Abroad"

Submission Guidelines

  • Submit your poster and text-only version to JoiningHands@miusa.org.

  • Posters should be a single slide/page.

  • Accepted file formats include PDF, Google Slide, Powerpoint, and Word.

  • Also provide a text-only "transcript" (either a Word doc or .txt file) that includes all of the text from your poster and describes important images, photos and graphics (find an example here). Find additional tips for making presentation materials accessible on our Accessibility Tips page.
