You will need to meet Academy physical fitness standards. We offer flexible testing dates to fit your schedule. You may transfer passing physical test scores taken within the last 90 days.
You will need to pass the National Police Officer Selection Test (POST), which focuses primarily on math, reading comprehension, grammar, and writing skills. We offer flexible testing dates to fit your schedule. You may transfer passing written test scores from the previous 12 months.
You will interview with a panel consisting of current and former Coralville Police staff, City of Coralville Human Resources, and citizens.
6. Background check
Your background check will be conducted by our detectives and will include: a criminal history search, driver's license information, professional and social references, a personal interview, finances, military and employment history, and education.
7. Offer of employment
An offer of employment will be dependent on passing a polygraph test, the Minnesota Multiphasic Personality Inventory (MMPI) test, and a physical (which will include an eye test and urine test).
If you are not yet certified, you will attend Iowa Law Enforcement Academy (ILEA) training at Camp Dodge in Des Moines, about two hours from Coralville.
