Hello JSEA Members,

We reached a Tentative Agreement with the District!  

Here is a brief synopsis of what the Bargaining Team was able to accomplish this year:

Article 25: Salary

7.07% with a one time bonus of 1.15% retro to July 2023 = 8.22% guaranteed for the 2023-24 school year (retro checks will probably be sent out next month).

The 1.15% "bonus" will become permanent if JSUSD is approved for the Community Schools Grant

This means, if JSUSD gets the grant, 8.22% remains on the salary schedule.  If JSUSD does NOT get the grant, 7.07% remains on the salary schedule moving forward into the 2024-25 school year (we will be bargaining salary again in the 2024-25 school year).

This % increase goes on all stipends and is added to the hourly rate as well

Payment for Elementary Class Splits: increased to $70 

Updated the Stipends list: 

Varsity Coaches

Jr Varsity or Assistant Coaches

Student Teacher Mentor

TIP Mentors and TIP Liaison

Article 19: Class Size

K-3rd: 24 with a cap of 25 (no change)

4th-5th: 28 with a cap of 30 (makes the MOU permanent)

7th-8th: 33 with cap of 35 

Willow Continuation School: 31 with a cap of 35

$150 per week overage for any classes/periods over class size

Article 26: Health and Welfare Benefits

Remain status quo

Article 17: Teaching Hours

Keenan Trainings will be done on District time during the school day (not during department/grade level meetings)

Article 10: Safety and Property Damage

Article 14: Evaluation

Community Schools MOU

Teachers and Community members will be a part of the team that makes decisions about how the grant money will be allocated

We'd like to thank all of you, our fellow JSEA Members, for your support and encouragement throughout the process this year.  We know it's not fun to talk of possible strikes, or to attend rallies and school board meetings, so we appreciate all of you for your commitment to your students and for your willingness to do what you could to play a part in getting us to this agreement.  Thank you!!
