Greetings Rolfe Family,
This is Mrs. George, proud principal of John Rolfe Middle School, welcoming you to the beginning of the 2019-2020 school year! Whether your summer was filled with visits and vacations, summer school and scholastic enhancement, or rest and relaxation, I hope you enjoyed the time with family and friends. It was great to talk with several of you over the summer, during our 6th Grade Tribe Camp, or most recently at Fee Night. To those who I have not met, I look forward to meeting you shortly. We welcome our returning staff/teachers and a few new faces. Below are a few reminders and notices for the week.
Parents and guardians:
- Tuesday, Sept. 3rd – Our Tribe Rolls into learning …Day 1. This marks the first day of school. As in the past, our doors will open and buses will begin unloading students at 8:00 a.m.
- We look forward to our families marking this milestone and parents are free to walk students to class the first day of middle school. Remember to bring your ID and prepare to sign in.
- Students choosing to eat breakfast must report directly to the cafeteria for “grab-n-go” breakfast, while those opting not to eat at school will report to classrooms.
- Thank you for assisting us with keeping our children safe. Below are a few items with which you can assist us to ensure school/campus safety.
- Please do not drop off students until 8:00 a.m. and remember a valid ID must be presented each time a student is picked up from JRMS.
- Please coordinate early dismissal outside of the school dismissal window. We will refrain from calls/announcement just prior to the end of the day (3:00 pm – p.m. dismissal) to avoid interrupting instructional time.
- Due to safety concerns, students are not to be removed from loaded buses.
- Parking Lot – The parking lot has one direction for the flow of traffic…One Way Notice. To ensure student safety please adhere to the parking procedures and signage in the parking lot. The official morning drop-off is the car-rider loop.
- As a team, family, and tribe, our focus is to develop life-ready thinkers. We believe the honor of legacy provides a future of success. We will continue to promote positive behaviors as we continue our campus-wide expectations. Our JRMS Team will…*be Respectful *be Responsible and *be Safe. This is the spirit of Team Rolfe and is the Tribe’s way.
- Students will continue to use lockers for the upcoming school year. All backpacks, cell phones, coats, and all hooded items are to remain in student lockers during the day.
- Students should bring their hall locks to school on Tuesday 9/3.
- Buses may be delayed on the first day of school as most students are learning their new routes. We appreciate your patience as we may take extra time to ensure student safety this first week.
I invite you to visit our website for important notices and updates. Navigate through our links to student resources, teachers’ blogs and webpages, PTA notices, as well as additional details and notices of upcoming events.
We look forward to working with you towards the success of your child and our student. Increasing student achievement in a safe, nurturing, and caring environment will remain the focus for the school and commitment of the staff. I can assure you that John Rolfe Middle School will continue the pursuit of educational excellence, as our Tribe aims for a phenomenal year for all our scholars!
Please do not hesitate to contact me (804.226.8730 or dnsamuel@henrico.k12.va.us) if I can be of assistance. I consider it a privilege to have your child at John Rolfe.
Students, please get a good night’s rest as tomorrow “WE” begin a quest for success with excitement into the upcoming year as one team and one tribe at John Rolfe Middle School where our “Legacy of Honor” prepares a “Future of Success”!
