I was born in Fond du Lac and raised in Manitowoc since I was five years old. I love this community and am proud to call it home. I am a class of 2003 Lincoln High School graduate. My mother, Karen, my brother, Keith, and my father, Keary, all also live in Manitowoc. I married my wonderful wife, Claire in 2013. We have two big yellow labs, Bella and Gunner, whom we adopted at the ripe old ages of four and eight from doggie foster care.

I obtained my bachelor’s degree from Lawrence University in Appleton in 2007, with majors in History and Philosophy. Then I went to the University of Wisconsin Law School, where I obtained my law degree in 2.5 years. After that, I moved back to Manitowoc to join my dad’s law firm, Bilka Law Office. Being able to practice law with my family and be part of a family business has been a true joy and privilege.

I have been a big brother through Big Brothers/Big Sisters since October, 2010. This has also been an enriching and joyful experience. I was on the Manitowoc County Historical Society board of directors from 2011-2017 and was board president for the 2016 term. I also volunteered as a coach for Mishicot High School’s mock trial program.

I am an avid bike rider and will ride in rain, snow or shine. Nothing gets a person ready for court like a good blast of fresh air in the morning, especially when it’s cold!
