Prospective PhD Students: Because Duke BME is a direct match program, submit your applications directly to Duke BME (fall) and list Professor Hickey as your preferred advisor to get flagged for his review. Be sure to mention why research projects are interesting to you and how this aligns with your long term goals. He will follow up with virtual interviews and then on-campus interviews. 

If you are a PhD student from another department looking for a rotation please contact Professor Hickey directly. 

Postdoctoral Candidate: Send Professor Hickey a cover letter and CV. Be sure to mention why coming to the Hickey Lab would complement your training, how your existing training could benefit the lab, and excited projects and future directions you would like to pursue

Undergraduate Students: Contact Professor Hickey with a message stating why you want to join the Hickey lab, your career goals, goals for research, and estimated time (hr/week) and duration (months-years) you expect to spend. Please also include a copy of your resume highlighting any research experience or technical skills you have. Muser also lists undergraduate research opportunities at Duke.
