CONCEPT ART FOR MY GAMES
This concept art represents a key gameplay moment from Pantry Panic, a fast-paced game where players take on the role of a food pantry volunteer. The goal is to quickly assemble sandwiches by pressing the correct keys on the keyboard, each corresponding to a specific ingredient like bread, lettuce, tomato, or meat. The artwork captures the urgency and coordination needed to complete orders accurately and efficiently, reflecting the game's blend of time-management and social impact themes.
This concept art showcases an early vision for Obstacle Racer, a competitive 2D platformer where two players race through a chaotic obstacle course filled with spikes, pits, and moving hazards. While the final game uses a split-screen layout, this artwork reflects the original shared-screen concept inspired by multiplayer games like New Super Mario Bros. Wii, emphasizing cooperative chaos and fast reflexes as players dodge dangers and push ahead to the finish line.
This character sheet was created for my hand-drawn animated promo video on one of my game projects, Planetfall: Survival, during my J-Term 2025 Animation course. The character, Spike Anderson, is a 28-year-old U.S. Marine soldier featured in the promo. The design includes front and side full-body views with and without his helmet, along with a complete facial rotation (front, 3/4, side, 1/4, and back views). To support expressive hand-drawn animation, the sheet also features a range of facial expressions—including frustration, shock, exhaustion, and determination—and detailed hand studies to ensure anatomical accuracy and gesture clarity.
DUMMY'S DILEMMA
This base design for the crash-test dummy in Dummy’s Dilemma was created during one of our first 2D game projects in an introductory game design course at Elmhurst University. Drawing inspiration from Mega Man, I started with a simple sketch to capture the familiar proportions and movement style of classic platformer characters, and then finalize those drawings onto Piskel. While the body structure and animations were heavily influenced by Mega Man, I gave the dummy a more distinct, blocky head to better reflect the crash-test theme and to set it apart visually. This early concept helped us establish a consistent visual identity while learning the fundamentals of character design and animation.
ANIMATIONS
DUMMY'S DILEMMA SPRITE ANIMATION
This hand-drawn animated short was created as a promotional piece for Planetfall: Survival, a small game project I developed during my Fall 2024 Game Design course. Produced during my J-Term 2025 Animation class, the promo introduces the game’s central character, Spike Anderson—a 28-year-old U.S. Marine soldier—shortly after crash-landing on a hostile alien world. The animation highlights key themes from the game, such as survival, resilience, and tactical decision-making, while showcasing expressive character animation, atmospheric tension, and narrative-driven visuals. My contributions included character design, storyboarding, rough animation, and overall visual direction.
