The origin of my creative practice lies in a journey across the Eurasian continent that I undertook during my fourth year of university. Traveling through different countries, I continuously photographed and filmed what I encountered as a form of documentation. Through these experiences, engaging dialogically with others — encountering the lives and landscapes of people with diverse beliefs and values — also became a process of releasing emotions and memories that had long been accumulated and suppressed within myself.
To recognize forms of existence that had previously remained unseen — this can only be achieved when someone physically goes to a place, witnesses it with their own eyes, and then communicates it so that others may receive it. It is neither more nor less than that. Yet precisely because of this, I believe such a fundamental human act can never disappear, no matter how society changes. Or rather, it is something that cannot be erased. That is why I value the act of “conveying” itself — nothing more, nothing less.
I believe that both science and art possess their own possibilities and limitations. For this reason, I seek a balance between research-based, factual approaches and forms of expression that go beyond mere documentation or explanation.
