WHEN THEY WANT AND PEOPLE ASK... IT COMES!
▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬
Once a Capcom producer, in a meeting with the company business men, put the following idea on the table: "It would be interesting, for the new generation of consoles, a remake of Super Puzzle Fighter II and Street Fighter II with fully redesigned graphics, not only using the old ones of the CPSII" (For those who do not know: "CPSII", or Capcom Play System 2, is an arcade card created by Capcom).

Then there was a lot of speculation about whether or not such remakes would come out and more precisely that of SFII': This was the most requested of the followers on Capcom's official pages and blogs (We're not talking about thousands but millions of SF2' fans). The popular pressure for a remake only speculated until then, in 2007, really exploded and finally in 2008, for the XBOX and PS3, the Super Street Fighter II Turbo - HD Remix was released.

TO FILL THE MOST NOSTALGIC EYES...
▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬
Except for those who have NEVER ever experienced video games in their lives, either because of some family oppression or because they are a girl (electronic fighting games are, for most girls in the world, annoying and nonsense things that boys are up to ike), you've played or heard about at least once from Street Fighter II. But if you've never heard of or never played SFII'... Where the hell have you been in the last 25 years?
Capcom spent two decades upgrading the SFII game. HD Remix is the latest of these updates and closes with a golden key this series of adaptations and updates that the game received. Starting with the beautiful graphics.
Most of the fighting gamers had an "annoying thought," at the Golden Age of PS2, of everything related to fighting games being compared to Guilty Gear. The reason was due to the latter having graphics and animation super well detailed and more resembled an anime... Well, this Street has reached this limit (actually crossed it...) and the feeling when you're playing this game of Street series is to actually see a cartoon controlled by you. The characters were all redesigned and gained an infinitely more beautiful appearance. Comparison? See for yourself:
Not only the characters, but the stages were also redesigned and gained more refinement and life, in addition to some temporal updates: Chun-Li's stage, for example, had the famous bikes, which passed through the area during the fight, replaced By motorcycles (there are those who prefer to say that they are "honda biz") and the Balrog stage has gained a more "Gangsta Mothafuckah look" where the old Cadillacs in front of the Casino give way to the Fast & Furious style (with chrome wheels and everything!) as well as the fans in the stage have also changed their look to something more of our current era. Everything, however, still gives us that good old "déjà vu" of the 90's. An show apart!

TECHNICALALLY SPEAKING:
JUMP KICK AND SWEEPS COULD STILL WIN A FIGHT?
▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬
Yes, big boy, the answer is yes: If your father played Street Fighter II' at Mr.Manoel's Bar (I miss this Bar...) and he misses it too, then know that he'll still know how to beat you! Just because the gameplay is the same as the classic he enjoyed back in 1991. Street Fighter is still Street Fighter, so, both new players and old players will feel comfortable with the HD Remix.
All attacks, strategies, Hadoukens and Shoryukens are in the same way, however with some changes... That IMPROVE the execution and balance the power of these and other special movements of the other fighters for good. The so wonderful "Versus" is more disputed than ever!
There is also a very interesting training mode where you can see the collision boxes (or "hit boxes" if you prefer) of the characters. It is great to understand how a "X" move works against "Y" movement or find out why certain strikes only works against a certain character. The most "Pro" in SF will find it very interesting while the beginners will be able to improve their fighting techniques and develop their own combos in a quiet and gentle way.
Speaking of "Versus"... It may be redundant for some to know but it never hurts to remember: They can now also be online. The matches flow very well and the response to the command is accurate. But in the sincerity: Only with opponents coming from your region, VERY CLOSE OF YOU! Against a person from Korea, U.S.A, Spain or Portugal, for example, and you being a challenger from Brazil... You'll suffer! The lag will make the match not viable turning what should be fun into a tremendous and suffering mess.
This is the 1st factor that can be considered really negative in the game: The Net Code. Yeah, it is not using the GGPO System so... The game commits a sin when talking about the sync part of VS Online and, living in a country where the broadband service "it's a beauty" (not to say the opposite...) everything gets sadder.
ALTHOUGH there's a synchrony system that tries to "soften" the situation the most hardcore players from our country would surely say "forget online matches against people outside Brazil unless you are accustomed to playing with Delay in commands ". In fact: Sometimes an opponent (national or international) that you could win in a calm way ends up defeating you due to the damn lag. This defect is "less worse" in a VS, as mentioned before, with people from the same country as you.
Still, it's annoying not to count 100% with "that Shoryuken" at the time Blanka jumps "hungry" towards you or not have "that waiting fork" with Vega right after defending a sweep from an Akuma player. The 2 to 3 seconds delay makes a decent online strategy serves to nothing. BUT it is still a valid game mode if you are not one of those who goes "to meet the strongest" and wants to play casually to have fun! The bubbles in your fingers are worth value!

GRAPHIC, GOOD GAMEPLAY... WHAT ABOUT THE MUSIC?
▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬
Oh, the sound... Remember Ryu's theme? Well, it's here in a remixed way: More arrangements, more depth, in the end, with a pleasing sound. But if you're really nostalgic, there's no problem: Just go in the options and change the sound system to the classic and all those songs that marked your adolescence (or childhood) in the Arcade Houses or Bars of life will be back!
The voices of the characters are also much sharper. This is because some of the sound effects of certain characters sound pretty "muffled", but nothing that prevents the game from being played. The more perfectionists will say that Capcom could have given a proper treatment to the voice acting of the game does not it?
There's still a lack of a sound test in the Options Menu, to listen to the songs as we used to do in the old days of SNES and Mega Drive / Sega Genesis, it is unfortunate for a game of this level and the era in which we are. So this enters as the 2nd negative factor for this game.
Why negative? Because you need to have the trouble of downloading all the songs separately if you want to hear them one by one without being in the gameplay. Something totally unnecessary (why did not they do the damn Sound Test!?), but if you do not mind, then you can download all the songs for free, by accessing the "Overclocked Remix" website from your console, to your HD from PS3 or XBox.

IS IT WORTH BUY OR NOT?
▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬
Worth it and worth a lot! It is a "must have" game for all new and old SF2 fans and those who enjoy fighting games in general. Needless to say, do not miss the opportunity to get it as soon as you can. Is it more of the same? Yes, it is, however, with new and deserved clothes, full of style and keeping, of course, the nostalgia of the late 90's with the good and old Hadouken on the screen! This is a game that conquers us and deserves a Gold Trophy with praise!
