FAQ

What if I have a quick question?

Please feel free to email me your questions. I'll try my best to answer promptly, and as accurately as possible. Email and Phone calls are a free service. If a site visit is required, and not an EMERGENCY we can arrange a time/day and likely would be free.

Will you travel outside your boundaries to work?

Depending upon circumstances, yes. Because I am local, preference is given to local clients.

Do you have a vehicle?

Short answer, no. I did have an electric bike (ebike) that I would use to travel for jobs, and small materials. However, a night-time thief decided that he needed the bike more than I. There are no plans to replace my bike, as safe storage is not possible. Thus, my transport method is TTC, or on foot.

Do you do emergency "middle of the night" calls?

I try my best to address issues for clients. A phone call to me, will get things moving. Should the issue be something that can be done over the phone (troubleshooting), great! Otherwise, i'll do my best to arrive as promptly as possible.

Do I need a permit for...........

The building codes/fire codes/ ESA codes vary. Specific work, requires permits, and safety measures are in place for the safety of you, and your family. Structural, and modifications to structures (including decks over 110 sq. ft) require permits. There are variances, which would include/exclude certain types. HOWEVER, even when not pulling permits for a specific job, it is always ALWAYS important to exceed the code for that particular reno. In a nutshell, each home renovation is different. Please feel free to give me a call, and we can review the specific work, and investigate the need for permits.

I want to finish my basement, but am not sure where to start

There are so many types of things to look for, before you start. Is the area dry? Are the drains, water lines and ducts where you need them to be? Is there adequate head room? Are the joists overhead solid? Is the floor solid? Do you insulate the ceiling? So many questions....a site visit would address the issues, and get you a solid plan to get moving forward.
