About Joe Russo

Update: As of August 2020 I am the Principal of St. Anne Catholic Academy Virtual School of Learning, a K-12 school.

My name is Joe Russo and I am currently a Vice Principal with the Toronto Catholic District School Board at St. Basil-The-Great College School in North York, Ontario, Canada.

I have always been interested in how ed tech tools can enhance learning and engage students. As a high school Mathematics and Economics teacher for 9 years, I implemented a blended learning model that included online platforms which promoted collaboration and student agency. As the TCDSB 21st Century Learning system vice principal for 5 years, I learned alongside classroom teachers, IT specialists, and K-12 students to understand how ed tech can be integrated in a meaningful way.

I have been a part of the TCDSB e-Learning world for over 10 years. I was an e-Learning teacher, the TCDSB Technology Enabled Learning and Teaching Contact, and the District e-Learning Contact. I led the Day e-Learning program as a system vice principal for 5 years and continue to lead the TCDSB Continuing Education department's eClass e-Learning program as principal.

I have facilitated many professional learning sessions for teachers. I am hopeful that this site will continue to serve others as a valuable resource.
