As a huge fan of the Chicago Bulls, Joe Cipolla's world stopped last April 20 when the first two episodes of "The Last Dance" aired. For those who are not familiar with the show, "The Last Dance" is a 10-hour documentary on the history of the Chicago Bulls dynasty that dominated more than half of the 1990s. The documentary is divided into 10 episodes.
Directed by Jason Hehir, "The Last Dance" jumps to and from the final season of the Bulls and previous seasons dating back to Michael Jordan's rookie year. While a huge portion of the documentary highlights the Bulls at their peak, dominating opponents on the court, it also features some never-before-seen footage of what their lives were off the court.
Some details came as a surprise to Bulls fans, including Joe Cipolla. There are reels of Jordan playing with other superstars during breaks from the filming of "Space Jam," which are a treat for long-time fans. There are interviews with past teammates who, while they describe Jordan as a true winner, also explain their fear of him. There's also a clip of Jordan breaking down after realizing his teammates were truly afraid of him, and that's why they followed him.
There's a lot to learn from "The Last Dance" about the Bulls' golden age, from Dennis Rodman's outrageous escapades to Phil Jackson's falling out with the Bulls management. And Joe Cipolla mentions that it worth many repeated viewings, especially if you're a Bulls fan.
