Project: development of a manual for patient safety and a registry of adverse events
Organization: National Ministry of Health, Pan-American Health Organization (PAHO)
Status: delivered
What was my role?
I contributed to designing and writing two manuals to strengthen hospital patient safety strategies. Deliverables included:
Manual for Patient Safety
Manual of use for recording adverse events
How it worked?
This consultancy was developed for the National Ministry of Health in coordination with the PAHO regional office. I was part of an interdisciplinary team hired to create both products.
How was data processed?
A systematic review of the literature and good practices for developing both manuals was conducted. Once the information was organized and adapted to the local reality, both manuals included recommendations and good practices.
How was information shared?
The information was shared through the manuals after a collective discussion with the members of the team and personnel of the Ministry of Health of the Nation.
What was the impact?
The National Ministry of Health distributed the manuals among various hospitals and health providers to improve patient safety practices and reduce adverse events associated with hospital care processes.
