Writing PD
RACES is a text-based writing format that is easily adaptable and can be scaffolded for ALL levels of writers, bot ELL and non-ELL alike. RACES stands for Restate, Answer, Cite, Explain, Sum up (and Segue, when necessary).
It can be used for extended response questions (RACES), essays (multiple RACES paragraphs), and even short-answer questions (RA). I also have a PD video explaining how you can use RACES in your classrooms.
*The colors in the responses correspond to each part of RACES, making it easy for students to see what each piece looks like in a paragraph.

Here I show many ways to scaffold and differentiate the process.
This link also has a sentence frame on the second page.
This checklist is quick and easy to use. It makes grading a snap!
