Here I show how to adapt a secondary social studies lesson for various levels of ELL learners.
This video and the next one are great demonstrations of a choral reading of a writing prompt. This class is a sheltered ELA class with many newcomers. Listen to their wonderful voices!
After the choral reading, the students identify words they recognize. These words are then used to build a student-generated word bank. Notice how Mrs. Mori uses her finger to guide the class in the reading.
