System Requirements
The PA Program utilizes an assessment platform (Examplify) from a company named ExamSoft. Nearly all assessments (exams, quizzes) throughout the program will be given with Examplify. Therefore, it is imperative that students have a laptop computer that can run the software. Please check the minimum system requirements here.
Note that Examplify will only work on a laptop that runs a Windows or Mac operating system. It will not work on Linux or Android operating systems. This means that Chromebooks will NOT work. Also, although Apple iPads are noted on the ExamSoft website, our program does not pay the extra fee required for the software to run on iPads. Therefore, iPads will also NOT work. Microsoft Surface tablets do indeed work (because they run Windows).
The PA Program owns 2-3 laptops that can be utilized temporarily in cases when a student’s device unexpectedly breaks or is misplaced on an exam day. You may access one of these devices by asking one of the faculty or staff.
Apple iPads
Although iPads do not run Examplify, many students find it extremely helpful to also have an iPad for the duration of the program. Specifically, students use the Apple Pencil to annotate PDFs and PowerPoint files on the iPads during class. There are also several anatomy and medicine related apps that students find helpful. Therefore, it may benefit a PA student to have both a laptop that can run Examplify and an iPad for note taking and access to apps.
