Program Overview
Since 1962, Madison High School's Army JROTC (Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps) Program has supported cadets in their character development as leaders and in their transition from student life to adulthood. The program strengthens essential skills like problem-solving, communication, and attention to detail, providing numerous opportunities for growth throughout the school year. These opportunities range from first aid training to leadership positions, equipping cadets for success beyond their school years.
Our JROTC teams play a vital role in the cadet experience, enhancing knowledge and skills in drill, academics, and time management. Through team participation, cadets gain valuable experience that helps them excel within JROTC and prepares them for future challenges. Our extracurricular activities, like Varsity Archery and the Armed Drill Team, unite cadets from all backgrounds, cultivating camaraderie and a shared sense of purpose. Through these enriching experiences, cadets hone their precision, build confidence, and develop the mental agility needed to excel as future leaders. Importantly, JROTC provides life skills that can open doors for cadets after high school, including scholarship opportunities.
At the heart of JROTC are the core values we instill in our cadets. We teach leadership, health and fitness, teamwork, planning, proper etiquette, citizenship, financial planning, career preparation, and public speaking. These values prepare cadets for adulthood and empower them to become better citizens.
As Warhawks, we are dedicated to serving our San Diego community and the greater good of our Nation. We believe in making a difference through numerous service-learning projects and community service events. These initiatives allow our cadets to apply their skills and knowledge in real-world settings while giving back to our city.
