Demography and Social Research in Health (Demografía e Investigación Social en Salud) is a research group certified by PAIDI (Andalusian Plan of Research, Development and Innovation) with reference SEJ-654. I am the Principal Investigator.
It is based at Universidad Pablo de Olavide, but the group is made up by researchers from UPO, University of Málaga, University of Granada, University of Córdoba, and EUSA-Universidad de Sevilla.
It focuses on demographic change and challenge, and social health research. On one hand, research on trends in fertility, mortality, and migrations, as well as their consequent effect on the population structure, especially on population aging. On the other hand, on the new social determinants of health, disability, and care. Besides, we always follow a gender perspective and we consider a triple objective: diagnosis, prevention and intervention, and a clear orientation to the development of public policies.
