The Mini Duffel is ready to be your faithful companion on your many adventures! I made the original prototype of the Mini Duffel in April 2019 as a gymbag, but it ended up being perfect for everyday use and more. After receiving a number of compliments that included "I've never seen anything like it before, where did you get it?", I decided to make a second Mini Duffel with some minor improvements after field testing the prototype for over seven months. This was a difficult build - over 22 hours of build time, which doesn't include a significant chunk of prep and overhead time. Is the bag perfect? Absolutely not. Are the stitches all straight and aligned? Is the construction perfectly clean? Nope and nope. Is it designed with care and consideration? Absolutely. Is it full of character? Will it last a long time? Yes and yes. This is what makes handmade special. There will be no other like it. Please see the video above for a complete overview of the Mini Duffel.

This bag is constructed with as few pieces of leather as possible. The shoulder straps are made long enough to allow the bag to be worn as a backpack if needed. This comes in handy if you find yourself taking a longer walk than anticipated. When worn as a backpack the main flap rests against your back which keeps the bag securely closed. There is a center strap that runs length-wise on the interior to further secure your belongings; the strap has a button snap that can be opened to have full access to the interior.

There are two exterior side pockets on the bag. One of the pockets features a magnetic closure. The other does not - this is to allow a phone to be easily slipped in and out of the pocket (I learned this the hard way on the prototype). The construction is done such that the bag is fully repairable and rebuildable if ever needed down the line. The bag includes a custom-made interior liner with multiple pockets to provide organization. The liner is sewn with a stiffner sandwiched between the fabric to give the liner structure and to help maintain the bag's shape. The liner is fully removable from the bag.

All of the leather on this bag is sourced from an Italian tannery that produces high quality premium leathers where the color is dyed all the way through the thickness of the leather. This vegetable tanned leather features a pebbled texture that is stamped into the surface of the leather which makes the finish more resistant to scratching.

As always, everything is handmade. The leather is hand-cut, stitches are hand-sewn (except the liner), hardware hand-set, edges hand burnished. A lot of thought was put into the design, I hope you enjoy it!
