I would just like to tell you a bit about myself, my life and my journey into counselling.
I worked as a secretary in the City of London for some of the big Investment Banks for around fifteen years but I found it unfulfilling. In 2004 I went on maternity leave and also moved to Kent. After this I retrained as a Family Support Practitioner where I worked in a school supporting families and primary age children with emotional and practical issues which I loved and felt very fulfilled. In this role I supported children therapeutically which I found rewarding and decided to enrol on a part-time level 2 introduction to counselling course. I have to say that this course changed my life. During this course we did a lot of personal development exercises, along with working in triads (small groupwork where we listen to each others life stories) the triads I found were very exposing for me emotionally but gradually over the year I was learning about counselling skills and applying them in the triads. The more aware I became of my own subconscious feelings and emotions the more my 'walls' started to crumble away. By the end of level 2 I was hooked and wanting more. From there I went onto level 3 and then onto level 4 Diploma. This path was no means an easy path to take but finally in November 2024, I received my Diploma certificate and became a Qualified Therapeutic Integrative Counsellor.
I now work in private practice with a variety of clients and their presenting issues. Some clients stay for a short time and some are ongoing. This is always down to the client how long they stay in counselling for and sessions can take place weekly, every two weeks, I am open to discussing session arrangements with clients and what will work for them.
