For J. James, art is primarily a medium of communication — a mode which expresses the ineffable, that which language can't describe. He aims to encourage contemplation through his work by expressing personal feelings and philosophies as visual compositions. 

James works from a concept which he express as a poem initially and then visually represents on the canvas. This is an important part of his process, as his aim is communication; thus, the aesthetic form follows and facilitates the conceptual function.

J. James has formal training in Art and Design at BA level and in Philosophy at MA and PhD level. He has dedicated most of his career to academic philosophy, having papers published by Springer Nature and Cambridge University Press. J. James has displayed work at solo exhibitions in Thailand and continues to build a collection which connects philosophical reflection and poetry with fine art.
