River City Bangkok is the venue for the latest J. James exhibition titled Poesis. The exhibition is open from December 2nd 2025 to January 4th 2026 and includes new work under the theme Poesis. Poesis is the ancient Greek work used to refer to the act of bringing something into being and the etymological root of the English word 'poem'. The pieces on display all have their conceptual foundation in poems written by J. James and, thus, act as abstract, visual representations of the poems.
The concepts explored in the work are broadly philosophical and include the nature of the self, the measurement and value of life, and our inner emotional experiences.

Flipper Art Space is hosting the solo exhibition of British artist J. James. The exhibition – opening on August 9th and on show until September 3rd 2025 – will showcase a compelling collection of paintings that explore the artist's unique approach to abstract and minimalist art.
J. James's work is guided by a powerful philosophy: that art is a medium for communication, a way to express ideas and emotions that words often fail to capture. "I strive to express not just emotion, but also my thoughts and ideas through my painting," says J. James. "The act of creating art is, thus, therapeutic and documents my personal and emotional development."
His creative process begins not with a visual style, but with a concept, which is often first articulated as a poem. This poetry is sometimes explicitly integrated into the canvas, while at other times it serves as the underlying inspiration.
The artist's influences are a diverse tapestry of masters and thinkers from the emotional depth of Mark Rothko and the vibrant colors of Claude Monet to the philosophical inquiries of Plato and lyrical honesty of poets like Shelley and Ginsberg,
