What If? By Randall Munroe
What If? is a book that I want for life. It is so witty, fun, and has so many new ideas introduced. I can't really give a book review about this book because each part, each question is so different, but I'll try.
Randall Munroe's What If? is a book full of hypothetical questions that has scientific answers. There are so many crazy questions, but the answers all make sense, have scientific reasons, and backs itself up. There are about 50 questions (sorry if I'm wrong; to lazy to go back and count), and each one of them is hilarious, actually is kind of plausible, and humorous.
Some of my favorite questions:
Q. What if you strapped C4 to a boomerang?Could this be an effective weapon, or would it be as stupid as it sounds?
A. AERODYNAMICS ASIDE, I’M CURIOUS what tactical advantage you’re expecting to gain by having the high explosive fly back at you if
it misses the target.
Q. What if I jumped out of an airplane with a couple of tanks of helium and one huge, un-inflated balloon? Then, while falling, I release the helium and fill the balloon. How long of a fall would I need in order for the balloon to slow me enough that I could land safely?
Q. How fast can you hit a speed bump while driving and live?
There are tons more, but I don't have space, neither for the answers. So I hope this gave you a little sense of what this book looks like.
