Ah, another legend. This book is wildly popular with young adults, and has captured audiences from all age ranges. I quite enjoyed this book despite what other people would say.
When I first started reading this book properly for the first time, I was in 5th grade. When I first touched the book, I thought it was crazy, weird, and scary (feat. I still think that it is). In 5th grade, when I read it start to finish, I absolutely loved it. The confusion, action, and just the craziness in general really made me fall in love with it.
Fact check here: Why does so many people hate this book/this whole book series? Guys, come on, it's not that bad. I mean yes, it might seem pointless, but then if everyone thinks that, what is the point of fiction in general? Or dystopian? Or anything related to fiction in general. Ok, I see Maze Runner haters point. But if you haven't read this book yet, you guys should try it.
Maze Runner, in my opinion, was actually a very well thought out book. Yes, it makes no sense. Yes, there are crazy creatures in this crazy contraption called the maze. And yes, it is so completely sad, annoying, and amazingly confusing. But it was actually a really, really good book!
The Maze Runner is based around this character Thomas. The first scene starts off with Thomas coming up the box (if you guys have not read the Maze Runner, sorry for the late SPOILER ALERT WARNING). He doesn't remember anything except his own name, Thomas. Thomas arrives in the glade, which was the home to many boys all like him, brought up by the box. Newt, who quickly becomes a close friend, and Chuck, who becomes a little brother figure both shows him around the glade. The glade, they explain, is in the center of this contraption called the maze. Because of it nobody made it out, and countless have died trying.
Thomas finds himself thrown into a world where the glade is the only safe place, with friends, crazy people, and traitors. But for a while, all seems calm (except for the part where Thomas bravely *cough, stupidly, cough* threw himself in the maze, sorry SPOILER ALERT), when everything changes...
The first ever girl was brought up to the maze. She changes everything that the gladers have ever known, and life gets even crazier. The weirdest thing is that she seems to know Thomas, which is impossible because everyone was brought up without their memories. What happens? Read to find out!
I fell in love with this book, and finished the rest of the series. I will be posting a separate review regarding all of the books in the series.
Please, please, try this book!
Until next time!
