Polytetrafluoroethylene binder
The solvent-free dry-processing method utilizes only solid powders and binders to create free-standing electrode films, offering distinct advantages. Among the various dry-processing methods, the electrode fabrication technique with binder fibrillation has recently gained attention after Maxwell Technologies successfully produced 10 Ah level pouch cells. The method patented by Maxwell, which connects electrode particles with a deformable polytetrafluoroethylene binder through dry blending, dry fibrillating, and dry calendaring, not only simplifies the manufacturing process by eliminating solvents, but also boasts high compatibility with existing roll-to-roll production lines.
