Fires can influence the structure, composition, and function of ecosystems by changing the plant community. I am interested in understanding how fire-driven changes in plant communities infulence regional carbon fluxes and future carbon storage.

Plants have different properties from one another such as different evaporative resistances and albedos. As a result large changes to plant communities can influence global climate. Biomes are changing with climate change, therefore it is important to understand the mechanisms of how large changes to plant community can influence the surface climate.
