I'm Jinhyuk and I usually go by Jin. I am currently a post-doctoral fellow in the Department of Climate and Space Sciences and Engineering at the University of Michigan. There I am using remote sensing, models, socioeconomic and demographic data to better characterize drivers of compound wildfire hazards. I was previously a National Science Foundation (NSF) Graduate Research Fellow NSF in the Earth System Science Department at the University of California, Irvine.
My general interest is to improve our understanding how disturbances are driving changes to ecosystems and their long-term effects on the global carbon cycle. I use remote sensing, field measurements to observe trends in land cover and terrestrial productivity globally. Using these observations with models I explore how the increasing rate of fires are contributing to ecological changes and their impact on global photosynthesis.
