I am an associate professor at the McIntire School of Commerce at the University of Virginia (UVA).
My research focuses on empirical models to analyze firm and consumer behavior in online markets, with primary focuses in the areas of electronic commerce, digital marketing, two-sided online markets (peer-to-peer platforms), artificial intelligence, and IT labor. My research employs interdisciplinary approaches, including econometrics, Bayesian statistics, structural modeling, field and lab experiments, and text analytics. My work has been accepted for publication by journals such as MIS Quarterly, Information Systems Research, Journal of Management Information Systems, The Accounting Review, Manufacturing & Service Operations Management, Production and Operations Management, and Journal of Retailing.
I obtained a Ph.D. Degree in Information Systems and Management from Carnegie Mellon University and Bachelor’s Degree in Information Management and Information Systems from Tsinghua University in Beijing, China. Before joining UVA, I was a faculty member at the College of Business at Lehigh University and the Fox School of Business at Temple University.
