As you can see from my songs pages, I perform and write a songs in a variety of styles and on a variety of topics. I regularly attend several virtual song swap sessions on Zoom, and most of these are sessions where songs about any topic are accepted. These also, quite reasonably, usually discourage spending much time talking about songs – thus maximizing the amount of music.
But twice a month I host a Zoom Song Swap session that’s a bit different. Some of the songs I perform or write are “protest songs” – songs about social justice or other “political” issues. And sometimes discussion about issues seems appropriate. Following a strict order of performers isn’t always adhered to, since a song about a topic might spontaneously inspire someone to follow with another. These “Protest Songs Song Swaps” (PSSS) are usually small and there’s plenty of variety – each session is unique in its topics, songs and attendees. Listeners are welcome.
The PSSS happen twice a month, [1] on the first Tuesday at about 3:35 pm Pacific Time and [2] on the third Saturday at 1:00 pm PT.
The Zoom address I currently use is the address used for the San Francisco Folk Music Club’s Zoom sessions. The Tuesday PSSS Zooms are timed “about 3:35 pm PT” so that an all-topic Zoom hosted by the SFFMC can merge seamlessly into it. If you want to join that all-topic SFFMC Zoom, you could join at the same Zoom URL as early as 1:00 pm PT (4 pm ET).
You can join either of the two PSSS Zoom sessions each month (or any of the four SFFMC Zoom sessions each month, info at sffmc.org) by clicking here:
