Following the recent surge of planning requests being made by land owners and developers - due to a lack of a 5 year land supply - I carried out a review of the last 6 weeks of submissions running up to Christmas. This has resulted in some startling findings.

My more detailed review is attached but I have been following this for years now - trying to bring to the attention of residents in Severn Valley the dangers of what would happen if the Local Plan was not vaildated by the Planning Inspectorate. I alluded to this emerging issue back in 2024 when I was a member of the Labour Party and I was publishing newsletters for residents in the Severn Valley.

The Local Plan

Of all the issues I have reported on so far in this Blog the Local Plan article highlighted by the Shropshire Star is likely to have the most impact on our villages going forward.

Flood Watch

On going study of how many floods occur on the Cross Houses to Atcham road and just how deep it is and how it compares with the flooding at Welsh Bridge which is the marker for working out - even if our road is flooded - is it flooded enough to get cars / 4x4's through it. The real time data at Welsh Bridge will correlate to specific depths on the Athcam road once calibrated.
