Here you can see a photo of an open pot hole (photo taken in Jan 2024) with an additional patched pot hole right next to it. When the first pot hole was patched it was clear that the one that is now opening up was already starting to show through. Why werent they both done together
AND WHY WERENT THEY DONE PROPERLY?
These really are sticking plaster solutions to our road problems and only serve to come back and haunt us far more quickly than we would like
A PROPERLY PATCHED POT HOLE SHOULD LAST UP TO 30 YEARS
And this is occuring on a stretch of road between Cross Houses and Weeping Cross Island on the A458 just outside Shrewsbury on the Bridgnorth Road that was only recently surface dressed.
Interestingly about 2 weeks prior to a local election in which the incumbent Tory County Councillor retained her seat back in 2021. Which is why we know when the work was done and just what a short space of time it has taken for these holes to open up.
Clearly the method of road repair was totally inconsistent with what was needed to be done to ensure that the road surface would last for at least 20 years - the sort of design life for a properly constructed County Road.
Just another example of short sighted political decisions being taken with our money.
And this is happening all over the County
Our elected officials can state that hundreds of miles of roads are being repaired over the course of a year by our Tory led administration.
YES THIS IS TRUE BUT IT'S BEING DONE VERY BADLEY AND VERY INEFFICIENTLY!!
And who ends up paying for this in the end?
