I am an economic sociologist, specializing in money, finance, and digitization in India. Currently, I am an Associate Professor in the Department of Humanities and Social Sciences at the Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur. At IIT Kanpur, I run the Digital Money Lab. I have also the co-founded the UNIBO-IIT Kanpur Digital Sociology International Research Group which fosters and aids in public dissemination of research on the emerging platform society. My research has been published in journals such as Asian Studies Review, Telecommunications Policy, Journal of South Asian Development, Sociologia del Lavoro, and Perspectives on Global Development and Technology. My work has been funded by ICSSR, IIT Kanpur, FORMAS, Sweden and the University of Bologna. I hold postgraduate degrees in sociology from the University of Maryland College Park (PhD) and the University of Hyderabad (MA), and an undergraduate degree in economics from the University of Delhi (BA).
