The role of an assistant varies depending on the course and instructor, but often involves proctoring exams, answering student questions, and sometimes grading. Additionally, tutoring is often part of the job (see below).

At the Indiana University Math Learning Center (MLC), a specific block of time every day was dedicated to M118 tutoring. Part of my duties as an assistant for M118 included attending the MLC once a week during this time and helping students who show up.
