The Atmospheric Sciences Research Center (ASRC), of the State University of New York (SUNY) at Albany, was established on February 16, 1961 by the Board of Trustees of the State University of New York, as a SUNY system-wide resource for developing and administering programs in basic and applied sciences related to the atmospheric environment.

The research carried out by ASRC’s talented faculty and staff is organized around the following overarching and interacting themes:

                       • Aerosols, Clouds and Climate

                        • Artificial Intelligence and its Environmental Applications

                        • Atmospheric Chemistry and Air Quality

                        • Boundary Layer Physics and Micrometeorology

                        • Climate and Water

                        • Renewable Energy

ASRC also has a proud history of promoting and leading interdisciplinary research with different partners and groups at UAlbany, as well as across the State and around the world. Through strategic collaborations, ASRC has been able to make significant research contributions to some of the key problems facing society today including climate change and its impacts, air quality and health, energy solutions and others. ASRC also carries out applied research focused on economic development in collaboration with the Center of Excellence in Weather and Climate Data Analytics.
