February 4, Jieun gave two lectures at the Delft Korean Impact Academy: The Netherlands-Korea Joint Education Program on Cutting-Edge Semiconductor Technology, with the titles "How mechanical engineering powers the semiconductor revolution" and "Vibration isolation: the fundamentals".
February 2, Jieun's work with Pyung-Sik at Gachon University on harnessing wave diffraction with metamaterial noise barriers for enhanced sound attenuation is published in Materials Horizons. (Link)
December 15, Our collaborative project led by Dr. Jeong-Joo Oh received an Open Competition Domain Science - XS grant from NWO. With this grant, we will develop micro-engineered bacterial cellulose aerogels to address both poor low-frequency noise attenuation and sustainable challenges of conventional plastic foams. September 6, A series of articles have been published in The Korea Economic Daily, highlighting engineering education at TU Delft. The articles feature interviews with Prof. Just Herder, Prof. Kofi Makinwa, and Prof. Ena Voûte. Korean professors at TU Delft, including Jieun, also contributed to the interviews. February 24, Jieun organized a one-day symposium, "Advances in Acoustic/Elastic Metamaterials & Mechanism Design," at TU Delft. The event featured an inspiring keynote address by Professor Yoon Young Kim, along with presentations from twelve distinguished speakers and engaging poster and demo sessions. With an audience of approximately 50 participants, the symposium fostered insightful discussions and knowledge exchange in the field. See the symposium program.
January 15, Ten talented Korean high school students, winners of Hanwha Science Challenge, visited TU Delft. Jieun welcomed them and provided an introduction to the university and its Faculty of Mechanical Engineering.
December 3, Jieun gave a webinar organized by the UK Acoustics Network (UKAN+) with the title "Engineering porous materials for broadband sound absorption: from metaporous layers to 3D-printed lattice structures".
