Conditions: Back pain, Anxiety, General well-being
I have been a client of Janet's for the past eight years and continue to have regular appointments. I initially sought treatment for back pain and hormonal related anxiety which were greatly eased after a few sessions. I was initially nervous about needles but Janet was calm, reassuring and both professional and instinctive in her practice. I feel safe in her hands and look forward to my ongoing monthly sessions. I always feel revitalised and rejuvenated and any specific ailments I may acquire are resolved swiftly.

Conditions: Post-stroke rehabilitation, Hay fever, Back pain, Facial paralysis (Bell's Palsy), Foetus repositioning (Breech presentation)
My name is Cathie, I am a middle-aged Chinese lady. Despite being Chinese, I had limited or no knowledge of acupuncture until that day my father had a dense stroke. The cruelty of that stroke left him paralyzed for life, even swallowing his own saliva proved a challenge. In a despite search to help dad, I turn to acupuncture.
About two weeks after dad had the stroke, I arranged for him to have acupuncture every single day for over a year and it was gradually reduced to 2 or 3 times a week over the course of two and half years or so. In the beginning, there was a significant improvement in terms of his face was not dropped on one side. Drooling stopped. Gradually, his neck muscle was getting stronger and was able to sit in his special wheelchair with his head firmly held in the center rather than slop to one side. Over the months, gentle movement in his left arm and foot. Acupuncture did not help dad to recover to the level I would like for him but it did help to keep his condition to stay stable.
Seeing these encouraging improvements in dad, I was curious as to whether acupuncture could help with my acute hay fever. I was hesitant to ask at first because I don’t like needles. Dr. Janet Tang explained and reassured me it is not painful. I agreed to give it a try and never looked back. She was gentle and very professional, I felt no pain, she is so good to put me at ease. She not only tailor-make the right treatment for me but also understands my pain threshold. She would ask me how I feel and respect my fears of needles. In fact, there’s nothing to worry about, it does not hurt. No pain. I often fall asleep in the middle of the session, it relaxes me and the body feels lighter after the treatment. I had suffered from acute hay fever since I was a teenager, around June to July are the worse time for me. In my case, the treatment is most effective if I start having acupuncture two or three months prior to the hay fever season.
After I had tried acupuncture first hand, I introduced it to my sister who complaints about backache. She had acupuncture on a weekly basis at The Chinese National Healthy Living Centre at Soho Square for a year or so until that service ended, otherwise, she would still be going each week. She loves it and falls asleep during the session too. Acupuncture is effective for back pain because she tells me she can move with ease and free from pain afterward. This summer 2020, my sister contracted Bell’s Palsy. This is a weakness or total paralysis on one side of the face, a drooping eyelid or corner of the mouth. She had acupuncture for 3 consecutive weeks, once a week, she is completely fine now, with no facial disfigurement. The drooping eyelid and dropping corner of the mouth all return to normal. Although in some cases, people do completely recover without complications, I believe Dr. Tang’s acupuncture has contributed to my sister’s full and strong recovery.
Last but not least, I remembered the time when my niece was expecting a baby and the baby’s head was facing the wrong way. I introduced her to see Dr. Tang. She only saw Dr. Tang once, with no needles but alternative treatment, the baby’s head was turned. My grandniece is 9 years old this year, a very happy and healthy girl.
We are much indebted to Dr. Janet Tang for her support for my family over the years. She has given us a great deal of assistance and professional advice and hence made our lives so much better. Whoever is reading this, this has been my experience and I hope it is of some help to you.
Best wishes xx

'Janet’s treatments literally changed my life. I was suffering from an acute facial pain condition that was untreatable with conventional medicine. It got to a point where Morphine didn’t even touch the pain. After weekly treatments with Janet for a few months, the pain completely disappeared. The condition is something that cannot be cured as it can come back when I get stressed, however, if ever I feel a twinge I just go to Janet for one session and it goes away again. Furthermore, over the years Janet has been my go to for any aches and pains plus during both my pregnancies. I can honestly say I’m not sure what I would have done had I not found Janet!’

Conditions: Revitalisation
"I found Janet in 2016 when I was nearly at the lowest point of my life. It was a general search for an acupuncturist, but I considered it luck and destiny. After a failed IVF treatment, I was devastated both physically and mentally. Both my husband and I went under treatment for a few months to restore our health and balance in life. Janet was not only a doctor but also a friend to us. She was very caring and understanding that we trusted her totally. Although we have relocated far away and no longer require treatment, Janet still has a special place in our hearts."

Conditions: Low libido, General well-being
I was a client of Janet's when she worked at The Chinese Medical Centre in Soho.
I have to admit that although intrigued by acupuncture for a while, I was worried about having needles 'stuck into my body', so was very nervous before my first appointment.
It turned out that I needn't have worried - Janet is very skilled and experienced and has a calm, friendly and professional way. Yes, I did feel a little sensation (in a nice way) with the needles, but, throughout Janet's treatment, felt at ease and comfortable (and relieved!)
I did find Janet's treatment very useful and helpful, and eventually I was 'signed off' as the main reason for my having treatment was sorted.
Janet was excellent and I would have no hesitation in recommending her.

Conditions: Insomnia, General well-being
Janet has used her extensive experience and training to help me improve my quality of life.
For many years, I had suffered from sleepless nights caused by what I found to be due to restless legs syndrome (RLS). I tried various things to help but they had limited effect. I also had great difficulty in switching my brain off at night even after I had retired from a consulting career of long hours for many years. This was having a negative effect on my general well-being and was also a concern for me in terms of longevity.
Of course I knew of acupuncture as a Chinese remedy for numerous ailments but had reservations about being pinned down with needles. However, I decided to try acupuncture and am so glad that I did. As a result of Janet's treatment, I sleep much more soundly now and my general well-being has improved significantly. Janet has a very calming influence and checks how I feel throughout treatment sessions. Rather than being somewhat wary of the needles, I started to look forward to her treatment and found myself totally relaxed in her care.
If anyone reading this has any concerns about acupuncture, I have no hesitation in recommending that you put your trust in Janet. Her professional and reassuring style is a key component of her approach.

Conditions: Hyperemesis Gravidarum, Perimenopause, General well-being
I wasn't a believer in acupuncture. I only tried it because the Whittington Hospital started providing it for free on the NHS. Having vomited my way through 2 previous pregnancies landing me in hospital (fighting to save both myself and the baby), I was now on my third pregnancy and vomiting worse than ever. All anti-sickness medicine was no longer working and I'd now used them all.
Janet's acupuncture was now being offered for free at the hospital. In desperation I went, really doubting it would work for me, as my condition was now so chronic.
I cannot describe the instant relief! Weekly acupuncture not only gradually reversed the sickness. It also had no risk to the baby of anti-sickness pills. It also worked long term rather than a short fix. It also cured my anxiety, sadness, hormonal pregnancy rages AND my libido came back. None of which I went to Janet for.
I just feel so sad I needlessly suffered in the previous two pregnancies.
Janet literally became my lifeline. Occasionally she was off or booked up and I had another acupuncturist. Some were better than others. But I could feel both in the session and the affects afterwards, that Janet is the best at hitting the actual point accurately.
Now I'm paying for sessions I would only have acupuncture with a well regarded acupuncturist.
Seven years later, I'm struggling really badly with peri-menopausal depression. I tried natural progesterone and oestrogen, 5HTP serotonin booster, high dose vitamin D, daily exercise and meditation. After 6 months, NOTHING was shifting it. In fact, the depression was getting worse. Getting panicked and desperate, I finally accepted I was going to have to go on HRT from my GP, despite a family history of breast cancer.
But then, it suddenly occurred to me that both times my mood was altered by hormones (pregnancy and peri-menopause). I googled "Janet acupuncturist Whittington" and thank God I found her again.
One session and I'm 70% back to normal. Having second session soon. It's literally a lifeline again. I can't thank her enough. She's given me my life back...
