There are many opportunities to take on more responsibilities within CCSL and develop new leadership skills. Read below about some of our open leadership opportunities. Getting more involved in one of these opportunities is a great way to show initiative and build skills to boost a future leadership application.
Want to support logistics of CCSL through a paid internship?
Undergraduate and graduate students can apply for a year long, paid student coordinator positions to assist with critical CCSL tasks behind the scenes. Coordinator shifts will work weekly in-person shifts at the Center for Educational Outreach (CEO) office and receive professional development.
Undergraduate Positions: Average of 8-10 hours per week, starting at $16.00/hr
3 Roles Available: Communications Coordinator, Tournament Coordinator, Curriculum Coordinator
Graduate Positions: Average of 12-18 hours per week, starting at $18.50/hr
2 Roles Available: Mentor Engagement Coordinator and Kits & Materials Coordinator

Requirements:
Applicants must be available for at least one 4-hour, in-person shift between 1:00-6:00pm on Tuesdays OR Thursdays during the academic semesters
Interns must be available to work hours during Intersession (Jan 5-16). The positions are year-long running from August - early May.
Attend a minimum of 2 required Saturday tournaments during the season: Invitational (February), Regionals (March), State Tournament (April). Dates will be provided in advance. Tournament shifts may exceed 12 hours with breaks.
Occasional evening and weekend hours required for events. Extra hours opportunities to assist with additional projects will be available during heavy programming periods.
Want to lead a mentoring team at one of our partner schools?
Head Mentors are responsible for leading a team of peers scheduled at one of our partner schools. They will communicate regularly with coaches and mentors to plan sessions, track attendance, and support with logistics such as coordinating Lyft rides and recording notes on what happened at each mentoring session.
Starting Fall 2025, Head Mentor positions will be paid at a rate of $17.50/hr. with an average total of 4-8 hours per week. Previous CCSL and/or Science Olympiad experience encouraged, but not required.

Must be available for at least ONE of the following shift times each week:
Mondays/Wednesdays from 1:30pm - 5:30pm
Tuesdays/Thursdays from 1:30pm - 5:30pm

Want to help plan and run an Invitational Tournament in February 2025?
Join the volunteer Invitational Planning Board to help coordinate and support our student-led invitational tournament in February. Roles vary from event support (test writing/reviewing) to volunteer coordination and logistics.
Applications will open in September 2025!
Requirements:
Must be available to support the event IN-PERSON on Saturday, February 14th
Must be willing to commit ~3-6 hours per week in Oct. - Dec. and up to 15+ hours per week in January and February for planning tasks and meeting with the board
Must be available to attend weekly board meetings (exact date/time TBD)
Want to plan a campus field trip event for middle school students?
Each Fall, we invite current CCSL middle school teams to campus for a "Build It, Study It (BISI)" event. Students will engage in hands-on activities and engineering workshops under mentor guidance. We need a board ofvolunteer student leaders to help us plan and implement this flagship event!

Requirements:
Must have direct in-person mentoring experience and actively mentor when on the board
Applicants must be willing to commit an average of 2-4 hours per week to assist with planning tasks and be present during the event (date TBA)
Must attend regular planning meetings
