Welcome Class of 2023!

The 2021-2022 School Year will present many new experiences and challenges, and the JHS Counseling Department is here to support you. Junior year is an important year to start thinking about your post-high school pathways. High School graduation may seem far away, but now is the best time to start planning.

Please review the following checklist for the first couple months to ensure a smooth start to the school year:

  • Review your transcript to make sure you are on track to graduate. If you have a credit deficiency on any of the subject requirements, or find yourself under 105 total credits completed, please make an appointment to see your counselor in order to discuss one of our various credit recovery opportunities.

  • Review your current class schedule and make sure you are on track to complete the a-g requirements if you are planning to apply to a four-year university. If you have questions about being on track, sign up to see your counselor.

  • Keep an eye out for local College Fairs and other opportunities to connect with College Representatives.

  • Keep a file of Colleges you may be interested in and start researching their admission requirements.

  • Look into signing up and taking the PSAT or PACT. Find out when and where they will be held. Let us know if you are interested in taking them and we'll help with the process (including providing information on fee waivers).

Make sure to sign in to your California Colleges account and make sure you have completed the Interest Profiler and "Do What You Are" assessments. Having an idea of what you want to do after high school makes the process a bit clearer. We will be providing more information on this page on getting you ready for your post-High School plans.
