My uncle Kamsa imprisoned my mother Devaki and my father Vasudeva. Kamsa tried to kill me when I was coming into this world because of the prophecy that when I grew up I will kill him. He got the news that I am still alive and somehow he found out that I am in Gokul but does not know in whose house I am staying. I thought it would take some time before Kamsa sent his soldiers to kill me.
Kamsa who was relentless to kill me, called one of his demons, Putana.
Kamsa said, "Putana, do you know why I have called you here?"
Putana said, "No, I do not know."
Kamsa said, "I need your help to kill my nephew. His name is Krishna."
Putana said, "I will finish the work."
Kamsa said, "The reason why I choose you because he is an infant and you know what to do."
Putana said, "Yes, I shall leave for the mission right now."
Putana left the Vrishni Kingdom and started her journey to look for Gokul and fulfill her mission. Putana was a demon who kills the infants by breastfeeding them. She has the power to change her roops (roops means forms). She changes roops so she will escape from her crimes and that is how she never got caught. This time her opponent is no ordinary infant but an infant with superpower. As she is making her way to Gokul by asking directions, she does not know that her time to death is approaching quickly.
I was an infant, who could do nothing but go around and around in the room. My mother Yashoda always took care of me and never left me alone. She always made sure to leave me with someone that she trusted.
Putana who can change roops of different people took the roop of a woman. She changed her appearance before entering the village. Then she will look for babies who are infants and breastfeeding. She started approaching each woman who had an infant. Then she started working at their home to find out where an infant named Krishna was living.
The first question Putana asked was "Do you have a baby?"
The woman said, "Yes, I do."
Putana said, "I love babies. Can I come to your house for babysitting so I can play with them?"
The woman said, "Sure, you can come to my house for babysitting."
Putana said, "Thank you so much for letting me come to your house."
Just like that Putana went to so many people's houses by changing different roops. Every house she went had an infant, and she tried to kill them. She had quick thought not to kill any babies instead she use them to find me. It took her some time before she came to my house with different roops. I know she was a demon, but I could not talk or give any warning signs to my mother.
My mother left me with Putana because of the trust she put in her. I was crying like no other baby. I would not like to stay alone with the demon who has killed many infants. Putana had the power to make people believe to get people's trust easily. My mother's trust in Putana was greater than anyone so she leave me with her.
Putana said, "Have a great trip. I will be waiting for your return."
Yashoda said, "Take care of my Krishna."
Putana said, "Yes, I will."
Then I was alone with a demon.
Putana said to me, "Krishna, it is time to eat."
She started breastfeeding me because of the plan to kill me. I did not just drink her milk but as well as her soul. She started screaming. My mother heard the scream and came back to check on me. She saw that I was sleeping on top of Putana who was a demon that died. She picked me up and took me away from Putana.
Yashoda said, "Thank you, God, for saving my Krishna."
This news also reached toward the ear of evil Kamsa. He got angry after hearing that I am still alive and kicking.
Author Note:
In the story of Krishna and Putana, I have added more detailed information in the form of conversation. I did not change the beginning and end of the story because people will learn what really happens when Krishna was an infant. Putana who is a demon only follows the order that is given by Kansa. She will go to any length to finish her mission and if she returns empty-handed then Kansa will kill her. She was doing research by going to house that had an infant in order to find out where Krishna is living so she can go there and kill him to fulfill her mission.
I did not show Krishna so much because an infant who can do nothing besides go around and around in the room. I am showing his character as a God who knew that Putana came to kill him. He is in a human body and plus an infant, not much that he can do. At that time the only thing he can do was eat and cry just like a normal human infant. He is an Avatar of God Vishnu. He has supernatural power which he used to kill Putana. Putana breastfeeds Krishna, which means that she is also considered as a foster mother of Krishna.
